I just want to point something out and maybe someone will be able to enlighten my erroneous thinking. A mandatory income tax on labor is indistinguishable from a “slave tax”. This is in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution’s 13th Amendment prohibiting peonage and involuntary servitude. If the congress can tax a person’s labor just 1 percent, than it has the power to tax 100 percent of that person’s labor. At what percent do we call it slavery and at what point does the 13th Amendment’s prohibition on peonage take effect?
